This week’s goHere Insight will highlight a creative solution that will be great for both kids and adults looking for a robotics product at a reasonable price. DJI has been developing the past two years the RoboMaster S1 and is set to be released this month. This product will teach your kid how to code through DJI integrating their computer vision, artificial intelligence, and camera technologies into this product. Read on to learn why this is the toy to purchase in 2019 for all ages.
The RoboMaster S1 doubles as both a remote-control car and an educational platform. DJI equipped the S1 with 31 sensors to help it map the surrounding environment and gave it the agility to move on a 360-degree radius. Like previous drones from DJI, this toy, through computer vision can recognize and respond to sounds and gestures and track objects. The camera has a wide 120-degree field of view with an f2.4 aperture. Neat feature in the S1 is it can shoot small gel bead projectile bullets. Don’t worry, the beads are non-toxic but may make a little mess to clean up afterwards.
DJI is hoping that robotics will transition into a “major” sport. The educational platform includes a suite of video tutorials and guides that will teach a coder with no experience how to operate the machine. Therefore, it is a great option for a child’s birthday present because they can learn to code in the process. A great thing to note is the S1 is extremely customizable and comes out of the box unassembled; allowing kids to put it together to get started and to gain an understanding for the machine (toy) they are using.
The different abilities the S1 has includes a “battle mode” where you can put robots head to head in a points-based game where lasers are shot at LED-lit sensitive areas. There is impressively little to no lag in terms of controls, which for a $499 device is remarkable. In the race mode along with trying to beat your opponents you are required to scan a series of images on the way in order to be victorious. It seems like that more innovative games and features will be added by DJI in the future as this product picks up steam. You can order the RoboMaster S1 starting today, June 12th at this link, https://www.dji.com/robomaster-s1 .
